The Potential of Assured Positioning

Location and time. In an increasingly autonomous world, it’s difficult to imagine two pieces of data that are more important. Safety of life applications and GNSS-challenged environments are on the rise, making assured positioning a critical component for any application.

Hexagon Positioning Intelligence has extensive experience developing safety-critical systems for the aviation and marine industries, where precise and assured positions are vital. Now we’re using that experience and knowledge to meet the safety positioning requirements for driverless cars and other autonomous vehicles. These technologies will be essential to the future of smart cities to reduce congestion, accidents and pollution, and to support more convenient and efficient transportation systems. Autonomous vehicles will allow smart city inhabitants to spend less time on the road, which will improve their quality of life while increasing public safety.

Hexagon’s precise positioning solutions are combined with NovAtel’s SPAN® GNSS Inertial Navigation Systems (INS), GAJT® anti-jamming technology and the Interference Toolkit to provide reliable position, velocity and altitude throughout intentional or unintentional interference, while maintaining high-accuracy positions required by safety-of-life applications like autonomous vehicles. All NovAtel OEM7™ receivers are equipped with the most advanced interference mitigation technologies to provide assured positioning – anytime, anywhere.

Today, Hexagon Positioning Intelligence solutions are leaders in the market, and are already trusted by multiple players across the automotive industry who are developing and designing the coming autonomous and driverless cars.

This is the potential of positioning accuracy with integrity. This is shaping smart shange.
