Celebrating Vision and Perseverance

Often, those who consistently choose to go against the grain face no shortage of opposition. Whether it takes the form of naysayers, refusing to learn from failure or general difficulties, there are real obstacles to bringing about change. It would be much easier to remain in comfortable stability than press onward.

We at Hexagon know that true acts of innovation are rarely found at the end of beaten paths and those who continue to step out of their own boxes keep our world advancing. It is through these kinds of organisations that our vision of a smarter, better connected world will be realised.

Our Shaping Smart Change Recognition Programme honours such enterprises, whose achievements and visionary practices in the use of Hexagon technology bring our innovations to life and give them purpose. I’m proud to share some of the successes of this year’s honorees.

Practical innovation

Briggs & Stratton, a pioneer in the use of robotics and security monitoring software, was able to radically improve security at its various global distribution warehouses and facilities using Hexagon’s HxGN SMART Command solution. Our geospatial technologies are helping Canada’s Mapping and Charting Establishment improve productivity and innovate methods for providing geospatial support to the wider Canadian armed forces.

In the sugar-energy sector, Raízen collaborated with Hexagon to centralise and optimise its plant logistics, allowing remote control and management of harvesting processes and support tasks for its 19 agricultural units – all from a single control room.

The right tools

By using our Pegasus:Backpack, Prisma Groep has pioneered a new survey process – a 100% reality capture method that brings us closer to the data-driven, interactive technologies of tomorrow. Over in China, armed with Hexagon airborne sensors and the ability to record and manipulate large amounts of encoded data, BJ Open Tide BoGuan IT Co. LTD is an advocate for the application and popularisation of monomer 3D modelling across the country.

Hendrick Motorsports is working with Hexagon experts to optimise race car production from design to the track through innovative use of design simulation techniques and measurement data from the service life of the car. With Hexagon’s solutions supporting 3D/2D design engineering and pre-fabrication tasks, Reliance Industries is developing ways to work faster and more efficiently while shaping smart change for industry in India. And through the use of our collision avoidance and vehicle intervention systems on its truck fleet at Sishen mine in South Africa, Anglo American Kumba Iron Ore is creating a safer work environment.

Through their partnership with Hexagon, these organisations have advanced leading ideas and best practices. I thank them all for being Hexagon customers and partners, and I look forward to their continued success and the great things we will accomplish together. Please join me in congratulating this year’s honorees.

Utilising Hexagon technologies to make a difference in the world – now that’s shaping smart change.
